Nothing to talk about

Sitting by the cafeteria today, I was asked by my good friend Mira why I haven’t updated my blog recently. I wanted to say that I was busy etc…but it’s not actually true…I just feel disoriented right now and lack any kind of inspiration. It’s the dry season for me...but I will try to write something just to see where I end up…

Last week was Moroccan film days on campus. It lasted three days during which several short movies were presented the AUI community. Of course they saved the best for last and it was really the best. la symphonie marocaine was the movie that was projected last and it was to say the least the best Moroccan movie I have ever seen. It is such a great piece that it’s hard not to want to watch again and again. Before the movie I was invited to a VIP dinner with the director and actors in the movie as well as the university president and the deans of the different schools on campus. It was a great opportunity to chat a little with all these VIPs. That’s for what happened last week.

Tomorrow is going to be even better. How couldn’t it be if you know that tomorrow the amazing Nas Lghywane are scheduled for a concert on campus starting at 9PM? I am already getting ready for it by listening 24 hours non-stop to their amazing music. Nas lghywane are more than a music group they represent a generation that lived through very hard political and social circumstances but always kept their heads up and never gave up their dignity. It’s the generation that is allowing me and my peers to live in this relative freedom that we are enjoying now. They broke so many taboos and defied so many wrong conceptions and that’s why they are loved by everyone in every generation.

So what did I answer Mira when she asked why I wasn’t updating my website? I just shrugged my shoulders and said I don’t know…but I guess she will know now when she reads this entry…
